Knights Eternal

Phillip Ness

It is with great sadness that I inform you of the passing of Phil Ness. We met in the fall of 1970 when we were sophomores at Lincoln Southeast. Little did I know that we would become lifelong friends. For the next 55 years, we shared many adventures. During high school, we often congregated on the weekends in his basement on Ryons Street, listening to the Allman Brothers and drinking copious amounts of beer. As adults, we maintained our friendship in variety of ways, most memorably attending away Nebraska football games. During the last few months, I, along with many others, had the honor of spending time with him as his condition worsened. Even though his world became limited to his room, he was still interested in what was going on in the world at large. He maintained his unique sense of humor right up to the end. In closing, he was a loyal and devoted friend. I am a better person for having known him. I am going to miss him.
